Sixth Annual Meeting

Library of Congress

March 28-29, 2008

Travel Information

Directions and Security Procedures

To get to the Library of Congress' Jefferson Building, follow the instructions on this web page for your starting point and means of transportation:

Once in the vicinity of the Library of Congress, enter the Jefferson Building from the ground level at the First Street entrance under the staircase at the front of the building, located directly across from the U.S. Capitol. Once inside, you must pass through security much the same as at an airport.  You may bring laptop, cell phone, and other similar items including coffee (be sure you have a lid on liquids) and food such as Danish and sandwiches in a bag or other container.  Just follow the instructions of the security officers – they are very helpful and efficient, and generally things run smoothly.  Once through, go straight ahead to the visitors' desk if you need to ask further directions.  You will be turning down the hall to your immediate left as you reach the visitors' center desk – see the following floor plan:

The first door on your right as you walk down that hall (before getting to the doors for the Coolidge Auditorium) is the entrance to the Whitall Pavilion where the conference is being held.
