Hotels

Hosting the 2010 Annual Meeting of MTSMA will be the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. The first day of the meeting is scheduled to take place at the Penn Stater, with paper presentations in room 108 and dinner banquet in Deans Hall. The second day of the meeting is scheduled to take place on the campus of the Pennsylvania State University, with paper presentations in room 112, Borland Hall, and luncheon in the Zoller Café, Visual Arts Building.

The Penn Stater’s recently renovated rooms with either 2 double beds or 1 king bed are smoke-free, spacious, and feature:

  • free wireless high-speed Internet access

  • hairdryers
  • iron and ironing board

  • Two dining options are available at the hotel— The Gardens Restaurant and Legends Pub — both serving classic American cuisine with an eclectic flair. The Hotel is now completely smoke-free.

Rates and Method of Reservation:

Rates for the MTSMA 2010 meeting are $85 for single occupancy, $95 for double, $105 for triple, and $115 for quadruple.

Individual attendees will contact the Penn Stater’s Central Reservations Department (800-233-7505) directly to make their guest room arrangements and guarantee them by providing an accepted credit card number. When making a reservation, reference the personal Reservation Identification Number for the meeting, MTSC10A, to ensure the rates guaranteed for the meeting.

Individual attendees can also go to the Penn Stater’s secured Web site to make their guest room arrangements. They need to guarantee them by providing an accepted credit card number. Go to http://www.pshs.psu.edu and select the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, Reserve Your Stay, and Group Reservations. Enter your Reservation Identification Number MTSC10A and click submit.

Forty rooms (20 double standard, 20 king standard) have been reserved for the conference. On Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 12:01 a.m., the Penn Stater will release for general/public sale any rooms in MTSMA’s room block that have not been confirmed by MTSMA or its attendees. All requests received after this date will be accepted at the Penn Stater’s rack rate and on an “if available” basis.

Directions to the Penn Stater

Driving from New York City and the East:

Take I-80 W in PA to Exit 161 (Bellefonte). Follow PA 26 S to US 220 S, and take Exit 74 for Innovation Park/Penn State University. Stay in the right lane of the exit and follow the sign for Innovation Park. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto the Park Avenue extension, and turn left at the stop sign onto Innovation Boulevard. The Hotel is on the right.

From Philadelphia:

Take the PA Turnpike/I-76 W to Exit 247 (Harrisburg East), and follow signs for the next 15 miles to Route 322 W. Take 322 W past Lewistown toward State College (stay on 322 W towards Philipsburg), and take the Penn State University/ Innovation Park Exit. Turn left at the stop light, and follow signs for Innovation Park Exit A directly to the Hotel in Innovation Park.

From Harrisburg:

Take 322 W past Lewistown toward State College (stay on 322 W towards Philipsburg), and take the Penn State University/Innovation Park Exit. Turn left at the stop light, and follow signs for Innovation Park Exit A directly to the Hotel in Innovation Park.

From Pittsburgh:

Take Route 22 E to Duncansville. Merge onto Route 220/I-99 N toward Altoona and go north for 24 miles. Turn right onto US 220 toward State College for 11 miles; merge onto Route 322 E to State College. Stay on Route 322 and later the 322 East/US 220 N bypass to the Penn State University/Innovation Park Exit. Turn left at the stop light, and follow signs for Innovation Park Exit A directly to the Hotel in Innovation Park.

From the West:
